Data Retention and Legal Requests

The less we keep, the less there is to lose or hand over. This page says how long this site keeps things and how we answer requests from the authorities. Periods in brackets are placeholders pending the founder's decision.
How long we keep things
- Waitlist entries: until launch, then for as long as you stay on the list. Removed within [30 days] of your request.
- Contact messages: up to [12 months] after the conversation ends.
- Request logs: up to [30 days].
- Backups: kept for up to [30 days], only to recover from failures.
Deleting your data
Ask at launch@khesf.com. We delete within [30 days] and confirm when it is done. Copies in backups disappear when those backups expire.
Requests from the authorities
- We answer only valid legal process that applies to us, and we read each request before acting.
- We hand over only what the request requires, and often there is little to give, because we keep little.
- We tell the person affected before we disclose anything, unless the law or a court order forbids it, or someone's life is at immediate risk.
- In a true emergency involving risk of death or serious harm, we may share the minimum needed to help.
Reporting
Once the services are live, we plan to publish a regular count of the requests we receive.
